Hand blocked and lovingly crafted from an archive of textiles and trimmings, every Kelly Christy piece is the culmination of modernity and tradition.
Drawing inspiration from the industrial and the post-modern, Kelly’s pieces reflect a curiosity for both the engineered and natural environment.
Trained in the deft hand of the old school of millinery, Kelly sources unusual felts and sisals from exclusive vendors and plucks from her own collection of curiosities and keepsakes as the ‘cherry on top’ her classic pieces.
From the runway to the museum, her work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and spotlighted in collaborations with world renowned fashion designers Cynthia Rowley, Diane von Furstenberg and Izaac Mizrahi.
Kelly Christy pieces have also been seen on the heads of clients such as David Byrne, Bjork and Mos Def and in the pages of Vogue Italia, The New York Times and Seven Seas +Town & Country.
The avid coterie that has grown around Kelly Christy’s stately and whimsical headpieces sprouted from her Nolita boutique in the 1990s and has blossomed all over the world.
Since closing the doors of her iconic boutique, Kelly Christy has launched an e-commerce facility for ready-to-wear pieces and caters to clients commissioning one-of-a-kind hats by appointment.
